THE COLE

Five hundred and five feet of fighting steel

and a crew that's second to none.

Back to patrolling the seven seas,

there's something that has to be done.

A dastardly deed had felled this proud ship;

it won't ever happen again.

For the Sailors who sail on this mighty ship

will avenge those women and men.

God bless the warriors who lost their lives,

and the wounded, God bless them too.

They made the ultimate sacrifice;

they made it for me, and for you.

Let this country not forget

that peace is always our goal.

But when some butt has to be kicked...

let the kickers be the USS Cole.

Let there be no doubt about it;

this ship can handle its foes.

And the Sailors who lost their lives that day

will be everywhere she goes.

When St. Peter reads that list

from that parched heavenly scroll,

tears will fall, from the sky

for the heroes of the USS Cole.

To repeat another hero's motto,

when he uttered the words, "Let's roll,"

may that now be the motto

of the Sailors on the USS Cole!
