NAVY ART

Art by, and for Sailors.  Some new, some old, some amateur work, and some professional.  The only common theme here is a love of ships and the sea.

USS Roosevelt DDG-80  An excellent painting of USS Roosevelt making her approach on a supply ship in preparation for UNREP (Underway Replenishment).  Check out more of this artist's work at his website, Navydaze.

Old Salt of the Sixth Fleet  An oil painting by Frank E. Zuccarelli, depicting a "Salty Sailor" on board USS Strong (DD-758), while on duty with Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea, July 1972.

Come to Mama  A beautiful painting of a helo making its  approach to the carrier.  The artist is a retired Navy Senior Chief whose love of the sea is evident in his art.  Check out more of his work at his website, RonHarrisonArt.Com.

The Battle for Fox Green Beach  Watercolor by Navy Combat Artist Dwight Shepler, 1944, showing USS Emmons (DD-457) bombarding in support of the "Omaha" Beach landings, on "D-Day" of the Normandy invasion, 6 June 1944.

Torpedo  One of mine.  In real life, you'd never see two acoustic homing torpedoes running this close together, but I liked the imagery.

My 3D digital torpedo model is now available for download.  If you're a digital artist, feel free to give it a try.

Sudden Squall  Oil on canvas by R. G. Smith.  USS de Haven (DD-727) provides anti-aircraft and anti-submarine protection for  USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) off the coast of North Vietnam.

USS Thresher on Eternal Patrol  Another great painting by Ron Harrison, this one depicting the lost -- but never forgotten -- USS Thresher.  Check out more of Ron's work at his website, RonHarrisonArt.Com.

Sailor Loading Fixed Ammunition  Oil on canvas by McClelland Barclay (1942).

Action on the Lincoln  As a general rule, NavyThriller.Com tries to stick closer to Cruisers, Destroyers, and Frigates, but Ron Harrison's art is worth seeing.  Check out more of Ron's work at his website, RonHarrisonArt.Com.

Blue Jackets Loading A Depth Charge Rack  Oil on canvas by McClelland Barclay (1940-42).

Get closer, Dad  Another of Ron Harrison's naval paintings.  This one brings to mind my childhood fascination with warships, long before I ever got the chance to set foot aboard one.  Check out more of Ron's work at his website, RonHarrisonArt.Com.

USS Valley Forge (CVS-45)  underway, circa 1960  Okay, I admit it.  I'm a huge Ron Harrison fan.  As long as he keeps turning out work like this, I'll keep posting his art.  Check out Ron's work at his website, RonHarrisonArt.Com.
